Disclaimer: This was originally Lyrad's post, but since I don't know his account, and have no interest of it whatsoever, I decided to post it as new. And I dunno how to fix the post order LOL
Well, this post has been delayed for a really long time now, and it's deserves better. From this point on, Bakuman will be updated weekly. I sure as hell promise.
Bakuman, is all about the dreams of different persons. A love story, and slice of life.
So here's me with my very first post for Bakuman...
...and yeah, it sucks that the screenshots here only came from episode 3. How saaaad... T-T
By the way, Bakuman is under J.C Staff and was originally created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the creators of Death Note. What a change of themes, eh?
Episode 1 - Truth and Reality (with spoilers)
At first, I thought the episode was fake. If you watch the opening, you'll be surprised...
The first episode is all about introductions. Well, enter the world of Moritaka Mashiro, a 14-year old high school student who doesn't know what to do with his life. He has amazing drawing potentials, though not yet enough to draw manga. His uncle, Nobuhiro Mashiro was once a 'mangaka' (a manga artist). His uncle's drawing sucks, but that's fine since he made gag manga (Hero Legends, which eventually became an anime that gained a bit of popularity). His uncle died when he was young, and he believes it was suicide, though all his relatives tell him that he died from overwork...
Now back to Moritaka, he always dreamt of having a normal life, far from his uncle's path. One time, he drew (pretty) Azuki Miho, his school crush, on the back of his math notebook. Eventually, he left his notebook at his classroom and decided to return for it. That's where he met Yagami Lig... I mean, Takagi Akito, a fellow classmate who has some of the highest grades in the country, and is an award winning writer. (fast forward, watch the series for crying out loud! XD)
Together, they attempt to become mangakas and eventually have their manga be turned into an anime. Well, Moritaka agreed to this because: 1) he was inspired and 2) he and Azuki will get married if that happens... WHAT?!? (grumble, grumble, grumble...)
Azuki (is a really pretty girl whom I actually have a crush in!) actually has dreams of becoming a Seiyuu (voice actors/actresses), and is excited to learn that Moritaka and Takagi are attempting to become mangakas. In state of shock and awe, Moritaka remembered his uncle's lovelife (which was not a good one, but quite inspirational) and suddenly blurted out the following words to Miho: "So if our dreams come true, will you marry me?"...
...Azuki agreed, after a bit of a shock. Now where will their story and promises go?...
Episode 2 - Idiots and Geniuses (with spoilers)
This episode explains a lot in the manga world. Moritaka explains to Takagi the slim chances
of having their manga published, and even more, made into an anime...
...well, that's not the least of their problems. Lot's of "what-if's" and stuff like that.
What's more, Moritaka's uncle died because of manga, will his parent's let him do the same path?...
...yes they did, Moritaka claims that his gamble is much more "luckier" than his uncle's. Moritaka then informs Takagi that he now owns his uncle's studio and runs their immediately to explain to Takagi what a "name " is...
...what is a "name" anyway? (and watch the series, duh? XD)
Episode 3 - (geez, wasn't able to catch the title, thanks subbers)
It was all about manga. Takagi was surprised by the number of action figures and manga, Moritaka's uncle collected.
Nice keychain!
Moritaka remembers the time he had with his uncle...
Takagi then gains knowledge of what a "name" is. A "name" is draft of a manga. It doesn't necessarily contain the real thing but it has the draft. Get it?
Moritaka and Takagi discovers more about Nobuhiro. Moritaka was wrong, his uncle died from overwork. They also discovered more about Nobuhiro's love life and.. WTH! Nobuhiro's love interest was Azuki's mother! =D
They went over to Azuki's house to talk to her mother and apologize for reading the letters she sent to Nobuhiro back when they were in high school. Well, Azuki's mother was nice, and even encouraged them to do their best...
...well, at least Azuki's mom is relieved to know that Moritaka will be the one dating Azuki, because she doesn't actually go for the "genius" type. Poor Takagi... XD
That should be all for now.
Well, what I really like about Bakuman the most (except for Azuki) is how it could relate to other people lives (the first time I read the manga, I was instantly hooked, because our lives were a bit the same). Actually, I think most of the authors here have the same problem, "what to do with their lives?". Plus, I really like love stories like this. Not so corny, not to sweet, but full of chances and humours. I personally have lots of dreams too, so it's not a surprise that I really like this anime.
Good work to the creators of Death Note. Keep it up! =)
That's it people! See ya soon!
